COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Just days before tipping off the 2009-2010
season at Minnesota, Tennessee Tech head coach Mike Sutton and his
Golden Eagle players and coaching staff spent some time Tuesday
afternoon hosting an event designed for Tech's faculty and staff
and their families.
Following the team's two-hour practice, the Golden Eagles welcomed
staff and families inot Eblen Center with refreshments and numerous
door prizes. The tea went through several drills with Sutton
describing the events and activities.
Names were drawn throughout the event for a wide range of prizes,
all leading up to one lucky fans who had a chance to shoot to win a
$500 cash prize.
"Our faculty and staff work extremely hard all across campus, and
we just wanted to get to meet some of them, let them meet our staff
and players, and show them we appreciate all they do to make this
such a great university," Sutton said.
"They players had a good time, and I think everyone who came to the
event enjyed it," Sutton added.
The Golden Eagles will venture north on Thursday to open the
season with a 7 p.m. game Friday at No. 18 University of Minnesota,
coached by former Georgia and Kentucky head coach and close friend
of Sutton's, Tubby Smith.
