Golden Eagles host Faculty/Staff Appreciation practice session

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Just days before tipping off the 2009-2010 season at Minnesota, Tennessee Tech head coach Mike Sutton and his Golden Eagle players and coaching staff spent some time Tuesday afternoon hosting an event designed for Tech's faculty and staff and their families.

Following the team's two-hour practice, the Golden Eagles welcomed staff and families inot Eblen Center with refreshments and numerous door prizes. The tea went through several drills with Sutton describing the events and activities.

Names were drawn throughout the event for a wide range of prizes, all leading up to one lucky fans who had a chance to shoot to win a $500 cash prize.

"Our faculty and staff work extremely hard all across campus, and we just wanted to get to meet some of them, let them meet our staff and players, and show them we appreciate all they do to make this such a great university," Sutton said.

"They players had a good time, and I think everyone who came to the event enjyed it," Sutton added.

The Golden Eagles will venture north on Thursday to open the season with a 7 p.m. game Friday at No. 18 University of Minnesota, coached by former Georgia and Kentucky head coach and close friend of Sutton's, Tubby Smith.

The game can be heard on the Golden Eagle Sports Network on WHUB am 1400 in the Cookeville area, and on the telephone or Internet on Free Teamline.
