Rogers nets pair of national Player of the Week honors

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee Tech junior wide receiver Da'Rick Rogers has earned a pair of national Player of the Week honors in recognition of his record-breaking performance Saturday against Southeast Missouri.

Rogers, a transfer from Tennessee, was named Monday as the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Wide Receiver of the Week by College Football Performance Awards (CFPA). He added the same honor Tuesday from Beyond College Sports.

Rogers set school records for most receptions, most receiving yards and most all-purpose yards when he grabbed 18 passes for 303 yards in Tech's 41-38 double-overtime loss to Southeast Missouri. He ranks third in the nation in total receiving yards with 509, and is 15th in receptions per game, averaging 7.25 in his first four games with the Golden Eagles.

Following limited action in the first three games, Rogers had a breakout game against the Redhawks. He ranks fifth in the OVC in all-purpose yards and scoring, and is second in the league in receiving yards per game and receiving touchdowns and third in receptions per game. In four games, Rogers has 29 catches for 504 yards and five touchdowns.

On Sunday, the Calhoun, Ga., native was voted the Ohio Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week for the second time this season.

Rogers and the Golden Eagles will be in Kentucky this weekend to take on Murray State in a 6 p.m. OVC contest Saturday.
