COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Tech football team has about
two weeks remaining in its 2013 spring drills, and will host the
annual Purple/Gold Spring Scrimmage on Saturday at 1 p.m. Fans are
invited to watch. Admission is free.
The scrimmage format will give coach Watson Brown's coaching
staff a chance to look at a large number of players who are hoping
to emerge into larger roles for the 2013 season.
"Spring drills are the most important time of the year for a team
on the field," Brown said. "This is when we find players, and we've
had a really good opportunity to look at a lot of players during
the past couple weeks."
The spring sessions have also given the coaching staff a chance to
take a closer look at a bevy of players who were on the team last
fall but sitting out as redhsirts.
Saturday's scrimmage will also be available for viewing on the OVC
Digital Network as the Golden Eagle Sports Network produces a live
web stream of the action.
The Purple/Gold Scrimmage is part of a busy weekend for the Golden
Eagle football team. On Sunday, the squad will gather for its
annual Awards Dinner. The public is also invited to attend the
Sunday dinner. Call (931) 372-3930 for information or
