Season ticket sales soar past last year's total and continue to climb

Season tickets are just a click or phone call away

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- With just one week left before the Tennessee Tech football team kicks off the 2012 season by hosting Hampton, season ticket sales totals for the six-game home schedule in Tucker Stadium have soared past last year's total and continue to climb.

That's extremely promising for the Golden Eagles, who last year drew Tech's highest average home attendance in 25 years.

"We anticipated that the demand would be greater this year for season tickets after the success that the team enjoyed last year," said TTU Director of Athletics. "It's really exciting to see that come true in terms of numbers. The community is rallying behind Watson Brown and this year's team, and we think that trend in increased sales will continue to be evident as we head into the last week before the opener."

Tech hosts Hampton at 7 p.m. Thursday, while the Magic 98.5 Tailgate Park is scheduled to open at 4 p.m. It's the first of two straight Thursday night games for the Golden Eagles.

Not only are season tickets sales going well, the "Back the Golden Eagles" business plan is far outselling last year's total. The plan includes 10 season tickets for only $200, a cost of $3.33 per ticket per game. The plan is available to any fan or business.

"That's a ticket to a Division I college football game for less than the cost of one gallon of gas," said Leveda Birdwell, Director of Corporate Sales and Marketing.

In addition to the opener against FCS foe Hampton on Aug. 30, the Golden Eagles will also host North Greenville on Sept. 6, followed by six tough Ohio Valley Conference rivals. Tech will welcome Jacksonville State (Oct. 6), Eastern Kentucky (Oct. 20), Eastern Illinois (Nov. 3 for Homecoming) and UT Martin (Nov. 10). The two October guests -- JSU and EKU -- are picked first and second in the league in most national polls.

An adult season ticket is only $36, which breaks down to just $6 per game. Tech also offers youth and senior tickets for $25 each, and a family plan (two adult, three youth) for $75.

Tickets may be purchased online at TTUsports.com, or purchased by calling or visiting the Athletic Ticket Office in Eblen Center. To order tickets or for addition information, fans can call 931-372-3940.
