COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee Tech linebacker Marcus Edwards and quarterback Darian Stone have each received honorable mention from the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) for their roles in Tech's overtime win Saturday against UT Martin.

Edwards had nine tackles and two crucial quarterback sacks, and also forced a fumble, as the Golden Eagles stunned No. 23 UT Martin, 45-44, in overtime. Edwards was listed on the CFPA preseason Watch List of linebackers, was a preseason all-OVC selection and a preseason All-America by College Sporting News.

Stone accounted for 467 yards of total offense, the second-most in school history, and tied a schoo record for most rushing yards by a quarterback when he piled up 190 yards on 27 carries. Stone led Tech on scoring drives of 80, 80 and 79 yards to account for 21 unanswered points after UT Martin had taken a 31-17 lead in the third quarter.

The awards are the latest in a list of honors received this year by Golden Eagle players, but the first weekly honor for each. On Sunday, Stone was named the OVC Offensive Player of the Week and kicker Zach Sharp the OVC Special Teams Player of the Week.
