COOKVEILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee Tech freshman Ladarius Vanlier was
named Sunday as the Ohio Valley Conference Special Teams Player of
the Week. Soon after, three different organization chose the Golden
Eagle speedster for national honors.
Vanlier returned 11 kickoffs for 237 yards, including a 94-yard
touchdown in the second quarter, against Murray State. The freshman
also returned a punt for 30 yards and caught four passes for 24
yards. When it was all said and done, he totaled 291 all-purpose
yards. His 237 kickoff return yards account for the highest mark in
the FCS this season. His 11 kick returns is both an OVC and Tech
record, and his 237 yards is also a Tech record.
The Sports Network named Vanlier as the Special Teams National
Player of the Week in the Football Championship Subdivision.

The College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) tabbed Vanlier as
the FCS National Kick Returner of the Week.

Beyond Sports Network named Valier its FCS National Kick Returner
of the Week. Ironically, the BSN Colege Network selected Murray
State's Walter Powell as the Punt Returner of the Week, after the
two played in the same game, and each returned a kick for a
touchdown.

Vanlier and the Golden Eagles get back into action Saturday night
with a 7 p.m. game in Tucker Stadium against Jacksonville State.
