Tech adds length in 6-foot-2 forward Treyvonna Brooks

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee Tech women's basketball team and head coach Jim Davis have announced the addition of 6-foot-2 forward Treyvonna Brooks, a Vellejo, Calif., native.

"Treyvonna is a great athlete, and a hard worker," head coach Jim Davis said. "She comes from successful junior college program where she found a lot of success. We hope she can bring that success with her and help us next season. She is long and a lock-down defender, and will be able to provide us with energy and athleticism."

Brooks comes to Cookeville by way of Chipola College in Marianna, Fla. While at Chipola, Brooks was a member of an NJCCA Elite 8 team in her freshman season, and a Final Four team in her sophomore season. She also earned second-team All-Panhandle Conference her sophomore season.

"I chose Tennessee Tech because I like the colors," Brooks joked. "But I really enjoyed the coaching staff at TTU, Coach [Bart] Walker never let up when he was recruiting me, he made me feel wanted even when I had to redshirt this past season. I hope to be able to bring leadership, hustle, determination, and encouragement, all of those things. But first I know I have to work on myself. I want to be able to lead by example and hopefully my actions and abilities will prove that, and we can find success as a team next season."

In high school, Brooks attended Dougherty Valley High in San Ramon, Calif. While there, she was a four-year letter winner for the Wildcats basketball team. She won the Defensive Player of the Year award in both her junior and senior seasons.
