Golden Eagles close out season at Eastern Kentucky

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech women's basketball team heads to Richmond, Ky., for the final game of the 2014-15 season as they look to take down host Eastern Kentucky at 3 p.m. CST on Saturday afternoon.

SETTING THE STAGE
The Golden Eagles hold a 55-24 all-time lead over the Colonels, as these teams have been matching up since 1973-74.

However, the meeting between these two squads earlier this season went in the favor of the Colonels. In a double overtime heart breaker, the Golden Eagles fell 97-93.

EKU was led by sophomore Michaela Hunter's 40 points, and 21 points, nine rebounds from Miranda Maples. Shameekia Murray added 16 points and seven rebounds for the Colonels who hit 12-for-21 from 3-point range.

Tech had four players score in double figures, led by Samaria Howard with 20 points, nine rebounds, three assists, two blocks and three steals. Hannah Goolsby and Catherine Taylor each chipped in with 17 points, the mark by Taylor her career-high. Senior T'Keyah Williams finished a strong effort with 15 points and 13 rebounds, her first double-double of the year and seventh of her career. 

Hunter is leading the Colonels this season with 14.8 points, 6.2 rebounds, and has dished out a team-best 72 assists. Shameekia Murray follows with 13.8 point, 4.4 rebounds, and has taken away a team-high 43 steals.

Tech is led by Howard who is averaging 15.2 points and 5.6 rebounds. Candace Parson is averaging a career-best 11 points per game, while grabbing a team-best 6.1 rebounds.
