Tech women's basketball adds JUCO guard Takisha Jordan

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee Tech women's basketball team and head coach Jim Davis have announced the addition of guard Takisha Jordan, a Decatur, Ala., native.

"Takisha Jordan is a tremendous athlete, and we need a point guard who can defend, and she can be a lock down defender," head coach Jim Davis said. "She distributes the basketball, pushes it really, really hard, and in transition, she can get to the rim. She can also shoot off the bounce, and she is a leader on the floor, and that is much, much needed for our program."

Jordan, a 5-foot-7 point guard, spent the last two seasons at Northwest Florida State College, helping them to a 54-12 record over her two seasons, including two NJCAA National Championship Quarterfinal appearances. Jordan averaged 8.9 points on 51-percent shooting and 2.9 assists this past season. In 2014, she was named to the Panhandle All-Conference first-team and followed up with a second-team selection in 2015.

"I picked Tennessee Tech because first, and foremost, I know they're going to help me with my education," Jordan said. "The team has great chemistry, and they're all about family there just like it was at NWF. I plan to be a great student off the court, and on the court I plan to work hard everyday, and help out in anyway I can as a point guard."

Jordan's high school career took place at Austin High in Decatur. While there, Jordan earned all-state honors and played in the North/South All-Star and the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star games.
