COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee Tech women's basketball team and head coach Jim Davis have announced the addition of 6-foot-2 forward Anacia Wilkinson, a Humble, Texas, native.
"I chose TTU because on my visit it felt like home," Wilkinson said. "The girls made it feel like I was already a part of the team. Everyone that I met within those two days was very nice. I could see myself going there right away. I also chose TTU because the coaches all have different personalities, but yet they all remind me of my high school coach."
"On the court, I plan on helping the team with the skills and talents God has blessed me with. I plan to learn from the coaches and the girls to expand my basketball IQ and just to have fun. Off court, I plan on being focused and determined on my long-term goal, which is to become a dentist. So with the things that I am being taught, I can eventually help those in the field that I would pertain in."
Wilkinson comes to Cookeville from Atascocita High in Humble where she was a four-year letterwinner for head coach Valery Jackson. In her senior season, she averaged 12.4 points and eight rebounds, while adding three blocks. Through her four years, she led her team in rebounds and blocks each year. She was also named All-District, while earning a place on the Greater Houston Area Basketball Associate Top 50 list, as well as Vype Magazine Girls Top 20.
"Anacia has a great basketball body, is very athletic at 6-foot-2, very skilled, and has great shooting range," said head coach Jim Davis of his recruit. "She has a great basketball IQ, and is a very intelligent young lady. She is going to be a great team player, can run the floor and can make plays with her back to the basket as well."
"We are excited about Anacia and all of our signees," Davis said. "I think all of them are going to have a major impact on our program next season."
