Special events and promotions planned at many Golden Eagle basketball games


COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Special discount nights for fans from counties around the region, two more nights of a free holiday ticket offer for season ticket holders, youth nights, and many more promotions are planned in Tennessee Tech’s Eblen Center this winter during Golden Eagle basketball games.

“Several of these events are annual promotions,” said Leveda Birdwell, director of corporate sales and marketing. “In every case, these promotional events add to the excitement inside Eblen Center by offering special ticket deals and options.”

One offer that has already gotten underway is a special holiday gift to all season ticket holders, allowing them four additional tickets to each of four games on the schedule during the holiday season. The first two games have come-and-gone, but two special dates remain. Season ticket holders can also receive four free tickets for games on Sunday (Dec. 28 / women vs. Middle Tennessee at 2 p.m.), and Monday (Dec. 29 / men vs.  North Florida at 6 p.m.).

With 15 home games remaining on the schedule after Christmas, fans can still purchase season tickets and receive the special holiday offer. Check for details at the Athletics Ticket Office in Eblen Center Sunday or Monday.

Residents of Putnam, Cumberland, White, Overton and Jackson Counties are also going to receive a special offer, giving them admission to certain games for just one dollar per person.

Residents of Overton and Jackson counties receive the special one dollar offer for a conference doubleheader against Murray State on Thursday, Jan. 8, with the women’s contest tipping off at 5:30 p.m.

Cumberland and White countians receive the special one dollar offer for an OVC doubleheader against Austin Peay on Saturday, Jan. 10, beginning with the women’s contest at 5:30 p.m.

Putnam County night is Thursday, Jan. 15, for the OVC doubleheaders with UT Martin.

Tech will celebrate it’s annual Academic Excellence Night on Thursday, Jan. 22, and all elementary school Honor students will be admitted free. Tech will host Morehead State with the action tipping off at 5:30 p.m., and all of Tech’s student-athletes named to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll will be introduced

Scout Night, with free admission to all scouts wearing their uniform, is planned for Saturday, Jan. 24, at the Eastern Kentucky doubleheader.

Also on Jan. 24 against EKU, Tech will host a couple of events aimed toward fighting cancer and raising awareness for diagnosing and treating the disease. The women's game will be the annual "Think Pink" game for coach Jim Davis' team, while men's coach Steve Payne and his staff will don tennis shoes for the annual Suits and Sneakers Awareness Weekend. Fans wearing pink can purchase tickets for one dollar per person.

The doubleheader against Jacksonville State on Saturday, Feb. 7, features a couple of special events. It will be Communiversity Night, when members of the Cookeville-Putnam County Chamber of Commerce receive eight tickets to the games. It is also Military and Public Safety Appreciation Night, with discount tickets available for all active and retired members of the U.S. military and their families, as well as persons who work in public safety fields.

The second annual Gold Rush is set for Thursday, Feb. 12, when Tech hosts Tennessee State. The women's game is set for an eariler start than usual, tipping off at 4:15 p.m., with the men's contest at 7 p.m. Fans are encouraged to paint the arena gold by wearing that color, and gold t-shirts will be given out to fans.
