WE HEAR YOU: Fan survey prompts changes in gameday experience, game times

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech basketball fans have spoken, providing feedback on Golden Eagle home games via a recent fan experience survey, and the results will bring about some exciting changes at games in Eblen Center during the upcoming 2014-15 season.

In addition to the huge, new video board providing a wide variety of entertainment high above the arena floor, the most visible change will be an earlier starting time for some games as well as a schedule that features eight doubleheaders.

“We received really good feedback in our survey, and we took all of that information into consideration when making plans for this next season of Golden Eagle basketball,” said Mark Wilson, Director of Athletics.

“Something fans really asked for was doubleheaders, and fortunately, In conjunction with the new OVC schedule, we were able to move some Wednesday games to Thursday so that we now have eight nights with doubleheaders,” Wilson said. “The general consensus from the survey was that fans wanted a little earlier starting time, so our single games on weeknights will tip off at 6 p.m., an hour earlier than in the past,” Wilson said.

“We want to let our fans know how much we appreciate them, and also how much we appreciate their feedback,” Wilson said. “We think this will lead to an even better fan experience at Golden Eagle basketball games in Eblen Center.”

All of Tech’s doubleheaders will feature a 5:30 p.m. start for the women’s game and a 7:30 p.m. tip time for the men’s game. All single games will begin at 6 p.m., and Sunday games will start at 2 p.m.

In addition, Tech Athletics has worked with Chartwell’s to bring about several concessions stand menu enhancements, including several healthier choices.

Above all, fans will enjoy a brand new video board and digital scoreboard that will not only provide highlights and replays but will also feature fan engagement and entertainment.

“Tennessee Tech Athletics really cares about our fans and we hope they will be excited about these new elements to enhance our game day experience,” said Leveda Dexter, Director of Corporate Sales and Marketing.
