RACHEL GOBBLE MOORE
The only player in Tech history to receive the
prestigious Frank Porter Award three times, Rachael Gobble was a
starter for coach Bill Worrell’s women’s basketball
team from 1997 to 2001 and helped the team compile a 91-31 record.
She helped Tech hang an OVC championship banner following each of
her four seasons.
A product of Columbia Central High School, Gobble won the
team’s Best Defensive Player award in 2000 and 2001, and the
John P. Hendrix Leadership award as a senior.
During her career she established school records
for most 3-pointers made in a single-game (9) and most 3-pointers
made in a career (176). She also finished with
272 career assists and currently ranks 24th in the
category. She ranks eighth in career free throw percentage,
knocking down 82 percent of her charity tosses.
Gobble is one of the players who will be on hand Saturday night
when Tech recognizes the 10-year anniversary of the 1999-2000 OVC
championship team.
