COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - After a pair of impressive games last week, freshman Kellie Cook was named The Sports Zone Champion of the Week. Cook helped lead the Tennessee Tech women's basketball team to wins over Lipscomb and Jacksonville State.
Cook finished with a game-high 20 points and went 2-for-3 from 3-point range against JSU after putting in 14 points, four rebounds and two assists versus Lipscomb. For the week, Cook averaged 17.0 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game for the Golden Eagles.
The Sports Zone, sponsored by David Benjamin's Hi-tech DirecTV, airs on cable channel 7 on Wednesdays and Fridays at 6 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. As part of the show, one student-athlete, coach or sports figure is selected as the Cookeville Regional/Sports One Champion of the Week.
