COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - Dozens of families gathered at the Cookeville First Assembly of God on Tuesday evening as the Tennessee Tech women's basketball team helped Habitat for Humanity at its annual holiday gathering.

"We're just excited to be here," said assistant coach Coretta Brown. "It's our way of giving back and getting out in the community, while encouraging people to keep coming to our games and supporting us."

All 11 Golden Eagles joined the Tennessee Tech coaching staff in serving dinner to local families and spending time interacting with all those in attendance. Following dinner, sophomore Krystal Stirrup and freshman Katherine Barker led a game of bingo where all of the children were winners and able to take home at least one new toy.

"They were really excited and expressed joy and happiness for us to just be here with them," said freshman Katy Cooke. "It means a lot to me [to help out]."

The team also helped distribute raffle prizes and took pictures with the families throughout the night.
