Tech women's golf ties for eighth at Nevel Meade Collegiate

PROSPECT, Ky. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team turned in another solid performance to put a cap on the Nevel Meade Collegiate Tuesday afternoon, rounding out the third and final round of action at Nevel Meade Golf Course.

The Golden Eagles tied for eighth in the 15-team field with Purdue Fort Wayne, totaling a 943 after posting a 310 over the final trip around the course. Host Cleveland State took home the tournament crown, besting Youngstown State by eight shots for a 918. Bellarmine's Josephine Bonin captured individual medalist honors with a 76-70-75=221.

Leading the purple and gold with a career-low performance was Elisabeth Toennessen, delivering a 229 to tie for sixth place among the 90 participants. The junior racked up four birdies on her way to a 2-over 74 in the third round.

Senior Hannah Bratton tied for 43rd behind a 240, finalizing action with an 86 on Tuesday. One shot back of her teammate, junior Gittle Sciolis turned in a third-round 81 to total 241 and tie for 46th.

Next among the Tech lineup, senior Heidi Lawson ripped off an even-par 72 to cap her week, carding a 246 overall to tie for 59th. Sophomore Ainsley Simms finished off the event with an 83, putting together a 247 to tie for 61st, totaling two more birdies on Tuesday.

Competing as individuals were veterans Isabel York and Katrine Toennessen. A senior, York tied for 51st in the field after finishing with an 81 in the third round and final score of 243. Toennessen, a junior, put forth an 83 to place 58th with a 245.

Tech will return to action in Friday, Apr. 8 and Saturday, Apr. 9 with a familiar trip to Miller Memorial Golf Course for Murray State's Jan Weaver Invitational.
