Tech concludes F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate ninth

SPRINGFIELD, Tenn. – The third and final round of the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate came to a close Tuesday afternoon, as the Tennessee Tech women's golf team finished its second tournament of the fall season ninth overall.

The purple and gold posted a final-round score of 328, finishing with a 961 overall through three rounds of play in two days. Belmont rallied past Jacksonville State to win the event, concluding action with an 886. The Bruin's Kendall Maynard delivered the best round of the event, shooting a 69 to win the individual title with a 214 total.

On the Golden Eagle side, it was returning freshman Ainsley Simms taking home the top spot with a three-round total of 232. The Maryville, Tenn. native turned in an 82 on Tuesday tying for 24th overall in the field of 58 golfers.

Producing the top round of the day for Tech was sophomore Gittle Sciolis, who carded her second straight 79. A native of Bremen, Ga., she placed 39th with a two-day score of 241.

Veterans Heidi Lawson and Hannah Bratton ranked next on the Golden Eagle lineup, each tying for 41st with scores of 244. A junior, Lawson delivered an 84 in her final trip around The Legacy Golf Course. Bratton, a senior, concluded her week with a round of 83.

Sophomore Elisabeth Toennessen wrapped up her first tournament of the season with an 85 in the third round, producing a composite score of 253. Fellow sophomore Makenzie Morton, competing as an individual, rounded out Tech's participants in the event with a 261 and a third-round final of 86.

Next up for the Golden Eagles is a trip to Gadsden, Ala. and the Chris Banister Fall Classic held at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Silver Lakes from Sunday, Oct. 10 through Tuesday, Oct. 12.
