Golden Eagles in ninth after day one of Nevel Meade Collegiate

PROSPECT, Ky. – The first two rounds of action at the Nevel Meade Collegiate officially came to a close Monday, as the Tennessee Tech women's golf team delivered a strong showing in the second round competing at Nevel Meade Golf Course.

The Golden Eagles wrapped up the first day of play ninth out of 15 teams in competition, turning a 324 before erupting for a 309 in round two. Youngstown State led the way, posting scores of 308 and 300 for a 608 overall. Bellarmine's Josephine Bonin paced the individual leaderboard with scores of 76 and 70 for a 146.

On Tech's side, it was Hannah Bratton leading the way, tying for 14th among the field of 90 golfers with a 154. The senior birdied a pair of holes on her way to a 79 in the first round before carding four more birdies for a 75 in her second trip around the course.

Tying for 18th just one stroke behind her teammate was Elisabeth Toennessen, sporting a 155. She too showed improvement from one round to the next, delivering a 76 behind four birdies after a 79 in the first round.

Third among the Golden Eagles was Gittle Sciolis, producing a 160 to tie for 38th overall. The sophomore shot an 84 over the first 18 holes, but trimmed a whopping eight strokes off the showing in round two for a 76.

Sophomore Ainsley Simms turned in back-to-back rounds of 82, totaling a pair of birdies overall on her way to tying for 63rd with a 164. Rounding out the Tech lineup, senior Heidi Lawson posted a 174 behind scores of 89 and 85, collecting a pair of birdies.

Competing as individuals and tying each other for 50th overall were Isabel York and Katrine Toennessen, turning in matching 162s. Both the senior York and junior Toennessen managed rounds of 79 and 83 in the first and second trips around the course, respectively.

The third and final round of play is set to commence with a shotgun start at 8:00 a.m. CT.
