Golden Eagle women’s golf wraps up showing in Golfweek Fall Challenge

PAWLEY'S ISLAND, S.C. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team sealed the deal on its first tournament of the fall, as the Golden Eagles completed their voyage in the Golfweek Fall Challenge at the Caledonia Golf & Fish Club in Pawley's Island, S.C.

Tech put the finishing touches on a 17th-place ending after notching a final-round 317. Campbell captured the crown behind a 1-over 853 over the course of the three days, besting Jacksonville State by a dozen strokes for the title.

Heidi Lawson wrapped up her time in Pawley's Island as the Golden Eagle individual leader after shooting a final-round 79 to finish in a tie for 53rd in the overall field behind a 229 final score. Ainsley Simms tied a bow on her three-day showing in 67th place with a final-round 78, while Hannah Bratton pushed across a final-round 79 to jump up three spots into a tie for 70th overall.

Mackenzie Morton saved her best for last with a third-round 81 for her lowest score during the tournament, ending up her time in the Golfweek Fall Challenge in 93rd place. Isabel York's Tuesday score of 93 saw the Cincinnati, Ohio native finish in 96th.

Campbell's Anna Nordfors was the tournament's individual champion with an overall 5-under 208, narrowly topping Lipscomb's Lauren Thompson by just one stroke.

Having closed the door on the first tournament of the year, the Golden Eagles will flock to the APSU Intercollegiate in Springfield, Tenn. Sept. 27-28 for the next event of the fall.
