Tech women's golf team maintains sixth place after round two in Gadsden

GADSDEN, Ala. – Round two of the Chris Banister Golf Classic came to a close for the Tennessee Tech women's golf team Monday, as the Golden Eagles maintained a sixth-place ranking while competing at RTJ at Silver Lakes.

The purple and gold completed its second trip around the course with a team score of 326, giving the Cookeville squad a two-day total of 643. Moving into the lead for the event was host Jacksonville State, which shot a round of 300 to total 599 for the first two days. Elon's Kanokwan Ngamwong took the individual lead in the field of 43, pacing the pack with a 144 overall.

For the Golden Eagles, it was Ainsley Simms providing the low score once again, shaving a stroke off her first round for a 3-over 75. The returning freshman secured three birdies and 10 pars, moving into a tie for eighth in the field with a 151 total.

Sophomore Katrine Toennessen produced a second-round score of 83, completing the day tied for 26th with a 161. Fellow sophomore Gittle Sciolis dropped in the lineup's second-best score of the round with an 80 thanks to three birdies. She moved into a tie for 33rd with a composite score of 167.

Next up for the Golden Eagles on the charts was Isabel York in 37th. The senior carded an 88 to round out the day with a 170. Two shots back in 38th was Makenzie Morton, who totaled 172 for the first 36 holes.

Competing as an individual, Hannah Bratton continued her strong play by turning in a 4-over 76. With a 149 in the books, the senior wrapped up the day tied for sixth.

The third and final round of the Chris Banister Golf Classic is set to kick off with tee times beginning at 7:30 a.m. CT.
