Darkness halts play in round two of RiverTowne Invitational, tournament to conclude Tuesday

MT. PLEASANT, S.C. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team finished the first day of play at the RiverTowne Invitational Monday evening, concluding the day much like the rest of the field, with more action left to finish in the second round. 

Competing at RiverTowne Country Club in Mt. Pleasant, S.C., every team in the field completed the first round, but saw the second round halted due to darkness. Play will be picked back up at 7:30 a.m. CT on Tuesday, with the third round to follow immediately. 

After the first round of play, the Golden Eagles ranked 14th following a 327 over the first 18 holes. Oral Roberts led the field by eight strokes, delivering a 297 overall. Longwood's Emma Landis paced the individual leaderboard, firing a 3-under 69.

Leading the way for the purple and gold on Monday was Hannah Bratton, tying for 11th overall. The senior carded a 3-over 75 with a pair of birdies to sit just outside the top 10 after one round of action.

Next up for the Golden Eagles was sophomore Ainsley Simms, putting forth an 81 to tie for 50th among the 89 participants. Producing an 84 with a birdie was junior Elisabeth Toennessen, who tied for 68th overall. 

Heidi Lawson was the next Tech golfer on the leaderboard, collecting a birdie while turning in an 87 in her first round of play. Rounding out the Golden Eagle effort was Reagan Stuke, producing an 89 while making her collegiate debut.
