PADUCAH, Ky. -- The final day of play at the Drake Creek Invitational brought mixed results for the Tennessee Tech women's golf team as the Golden Eagles finished in seventh place in the first tournament of the season.

Host Murray State (907) captured the team title with a comfortable nine-stroke lead over second place Eastern Kentucky (916). Western Kentucky (930) edged out Austin Peay (932) for third place, with Belmont one shot back (933) in fifth place. The rest of the nine-team field included Evansville (944) in sixth, Tech (949) seventh, Austin Peay's No. 2 team (959) eighth and Lipscomb (984) in ninth.

Senior Diana Carson, who entered the day tied for second place after shooting 76 and 71 Monday, shot a final round 81 Tuesday to finish in seventh place at 228. Senior Megan Bradford finished strong with a final round 73 on Tuesday, Tech's best score of the day, and jumped to a 10th place finish at 229. Bradford, an all-OVC performer last season, sliced her score every round with a 79 and 77 Monday.

Freshman Amanda Randolph, playing in her first career tournament, shot 84-83-82-- 249 to finish in a tie for 46th place. The balance of Tech's five player lineup included junior Carley Rhyne (80-81-90--251) in 50th place and senior Katie Brown (80-89-86--255) in 52nd.

Coach Brandy Stout also had two players in the field competing individually. Freshman Katherine Bell closed her first collegiate tournament in a tie for 42nd place with consistent play, carding scores of 82 in all three rounds. Junior Linday Spradlen tied for 46th place, shooting 80-87-82--249.

The Golden Eagles will be rightback in action this weekend, playing in Western Carolina's Great Smokies Invitational in Waynesville, N.C., Saturday and Sunday.
