ONEONTA, Ala. -- The Tennessee Tech women's golf team wrapped up with its best round of the tournament Tuesday, jumping one position in the standings to finish in sixth place at the 11-team Samford Intercollegiate.

After shooting team scores of 315 and 318 on Monday, Tech entered play Tuesday in seventh place. The Golden Eagles shot a 313 over the final round and leaped ahead of Western Kentucky by two strokes.

Fellow OVC member Jacksonville State sizzled on Tuesday with a final round 295 to capture its second straight title at the Samford event with a 904 total. Host Samford and South Alabama tied for second at 910, followed by Louisiana-Monroe (917) and UAB (932).

Tech led off the second five in the standings witih a 946 total, with WKU (948) in seventh place, Belmont (978) eighth, Evanssville (982) ninth and Tennessee State (1180) in 10th. The 11th school in the field, Montevallo, did not field a complete team.

Senior Diana Carson posted Tech's low score of the tournament with a 74 Tuesday, earning a tie for 13th place overall at 231. Senior Megan Bradford tied for 18th place at 233, and freshman Amanda Randolph tied for 25th at 236. Also on the course for coach Brandy Stout's team, Carley Rhyne tied for 40th place at 247 and Katie Brown finished 47th at 254.

Competiting individually, Lindsey Spradlen finished 49th with a score of 261.

South Alabama's Fanny Eineren shot 69-70-74--213 wot win medalist honors.

The next tournament on tap for the Golden Eagles is the Western Carolina Invitational, April 5-6. That's the final outing of the spring prior to the Ohio Valley Conference tournament, April 22-24.
