COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Just when you thought Doc
Fields’ Friday night concert and party couldn’t get any
better, the high-energy event is…getting even better.
One of the most popular features of the Pepsi Bobby Nichols
Scramble presented by Budweiser, the Doc Fields Friday Night
Concert and Party will feature a sensational musical group called
Simply Irresistible.
The concert will be held at Club Jet in Cookeville for the second year in a row. Tournament golfers receive one ticket and may purchase additional tickets for $25 that include free food and free beverages from tournament sponsors Pepsi and Budweiser. Tickets are available from the Tennessee Tech Athletics Ticket Office in Eblen Center.
Simply Irresistible, the “sister act” of last year’s popular group, Party On The Moon, will present a concert that features the latest in dance, classic rock, disco/funk, swing, R&B, standards, Motown and new country.
On the front line of Simply Irresistible are Toni Braxton’s sister, a Canadian Idol, a Broadway singer just off The Wiz, a former POTM lead vocalist and a bubbling superstar from Atlanta.
Band leader Ronnie Garrett is a Grammy nominee and Tyler Perry’s musical director, who has worked with Beyonce, Elton John, Aretha Franklin, Usher and many more. Garrett has performed, produced and written on more than 15 million records sold worldwide.
“Everybody at the concert last year was really entertained by Party on the Moon,” said tournament director Misty Pearson. “This year’s concert will feature the same type of high-energy performance and promises to be another great event.
The Friday night concert has been a highlight of the tournament in past years, with performances by some high-energy recording artists such as The Tams, The Drifters, Mark Lindsay (from Paul Revere and The Raiders), the Classic Rock All-Star Band (featuring members of Rare Earth, Iron Butterfly and Sugarloaf), Get Back (as The Beatles) and Here Come The Mummies.
"The Pepsi Bobby Nichols Scramble presented by Budweiser is not only the largest and most successful fund raising golf tournament in the area, it provides what is arguably the best concert of the year," said Pearson.
The Bobby Nichols Scramble, an annual fund raising event for
Tennessee Tech Athletics, is scheduled for June 11-13 at three area
golf courses, and will include over 500 golfers.
The field for the tournament is over 90 percent filled, so
interested golfers should call as soon as possible to register for
the few remaining team slots in this popular three-day golfing
