GULF SHORES, Ala. -- The Tennessee Tech women's golf team wrapped up the Fall portion of the 2009-10 schedule on a positive note; The Golden Eagles sliced 17 strokes off their team score between the first and second rounds of the UAB Beach Blast at The Peninsula Golf Course.

Freshman Amanda Randolph carded a 76 Tuesday to lead Tech as the Golden Eagles went from a first round 333 on Monday to a 316 on Tuesday. It was the biggest improvement by any team in the 12-team field, but it wasn't enough to lift Tech out of 12th place.

The University of Memphis improved by five shots (300-295) to capture the team title with a 595, a 10-stroke margin over second-place Samford (605). Arkansas State and Louisiana-Monroe (606) tied for third place. First round leader Middle Tennessee added 18 shots (297-315) to its first day score and slipped to fifth place (612).

Austin Peay, the only other OVC school in the tournament, added six shots (316-322) Tuesday and finished with 638, but held on to finish ahead of Tech (649).

Randolph tied for 45th place at 84-76--160, with Carley Rhyne (83-78) one shot back at 161 to tie for 49th place. Megan Bradford (84-80--164) tied for 54th palce, Lindsay Spradlen (82-83-165) was 58th, and Katherine Bell (86-82--168) tied for 59th place.

Carolyn Cochran of Memphis coasted to medalist honors with a 142, five shots ahead of three players who tied for second.
