ONEONTA, Ala. -- Tennessee Tech golfers scored well on the shortest and longest holes Monday, but in between the Golden Eagles lost a little ground. With 36 holes in the books, the Tech women are in seventh place among 11 teams at the Samford Intercollegiate with a final round slated for Tuesday.
Seniors Megan Bradford and Diana Carson and freshman Amanda Randolph each carded rounds of 77 Monday and are in Top 25 spots while leading the Golden Eagles. Bradford is tied for 19th place at 156, Carson is 22nd at 157, and Randolph is tied for 23rd at 158.
South Alabama put together rounds of 304 and 296 to grab the
lead in the tourney at 600, nine strokes ahead of second place
Jacksonville State (609). Host Samford is third (614) with
Louisiana-Monroe (615) fourth and UAB (621) fifth.
The team just ahead of the Golden Eagles is Western Kentucky, four
shots ahead of Tech at 629. Tech is seventh at 633, followed by
Belmont (649), Evansville (654), Tennessee State (798) and
Montevallo (DNF).
The Golden Eagles ranked third on the par 3 holes, and had the
second lowest score on the par 5s, but were seventh in the field on
the par 4 holes.
Joining Bradford, Carson and Randolph in Tech's lineup, Carley
Rhyne is tied for 35th place at 163 and Katie Brown is 42nd at
166.
One additional Golden Eagle, Lindsey Spradlen is competing as an
individual. She's in 49th place at 175.
