COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech tennis team had its questions answered of who and where for the NCAA Tournament, as the Golden Eagles learned their upcoming opponent and location for the first round during Monday's selection show.

Gathered as a group in the Eagles Nest, Tech discovered it would make the short trip to Knoxville to tangle with the University of Tennessee, the national No. 6 seed, in the opening round over the weekend in the field of 64. Duke and Memphis will head to Knoxville as well, making up the other portion of the bracket that will square off with the TTU-UT winner in the second round of the single-elimination tourney.

After besting Belmont in Sunday's final to capture another OVC Tournament title, the program's 11th all-time, the Golden Eagles will be making their fifth trip to the NCAA Tournament over the last six full seasons.

The Vols head into hosting duties with a 22-7 overall record and an 8-4 Southeastern Conference mark. After knocking off Alabama and No. 11 Georgia in the first two rounds of the SEC Tournament, Tennessee's run ended in the semifinals with a 4-1 loss to No. 3 Florida.

A familiar foe over the years, UT and Tech will meet for the 17th time in the series history. The Vols have taken all 16 previous get-togethers, all of which have taken place in Knoxville. The two clubs were scheduled to clash on Jan. 23, but the match was ultimately cancelled.
