Rodeia and Tosetto pick up victories in ITA Men’s All-American Championships

TULSA, Okla. – The Tennessee Tech tennis team collected a pair of wins in the second day of the ITA Men's All-American Championships, but three Golden Eagles saw their runs end in one of the nation's most premier events of the fall.

Andre Rodeia was the lone Golden Eagle to secure a victory in the singles prequalifying main draw, claiming a straight-set, 6-4, 6-0 nod over Oklahoma's Matthew Rodriguez to advance to the round of 64. The 5-foot-9 TTU sophomore's time in Tulsa then concluded with a 6-3, 7-6 (5) loss to Tennessee's Angel Diaz in the round of 64.

Rafael Tosetto was responsible for TTU's other solo triumph after topping Oklahoma State's Nicolas Pesoli, 6-4, 6-3, in the prequalifying consolation bracket. The Jacarei, Brazil product will face Troy's Nicolas Simkin in the round of 64 consolation side of the equation.

Carlos Vicente and Evzen Holis saw their respective runs come to a close in the prequalifying main draw, as Holis was upended 6-3, 6-4 by VCU's Mxence Bertimon in the round of 128 and Vicente was downed 6-7 (2), 6-2, 6-3 to Liberty's Zion Heaven in the round of 64.

TULSA, Okla. – A significant start for the Tennessee Tech tennis team on the first day of competition in the ITA Men's All-American Championships, as three-of-four Golden Eagles advanced in the singles prequalifying main draw.

Andre Rodeia, Evzen Holis and Carlos Vicente all collected victories in their respective matchups in one of the most premier events that the collegiate tennis world has to offer in the fall. Vicente led the Tech charge, progressing all the way Sunday's round of 64 after becoming the only Golden Eagle to secure a round of 256 bye, before knocking off Walker Stearns out of Ole Miss in the round of 128. The Golden Eagle junior out of Valencia, Spain will greet Liberty's Zion Heaven in Sunday's round of 64.

Fresh off his run to the quarterfinals in the ITA Ohio Valley Regionals, Evzen Holis continued his strong fall with a round of 256 victory over Oklahoma State's Leighton Allen. The 6-foot-2 Tech sophomore will say hello to Maxence Bertimon out of VCU in Sunday's round of 128.

Andre Rodeia rounded out TTU's first-day success with a win over Troy's Chris Tasker in the round of 256 and will now square off with Oklahoma's Matthew Rodriguez in Sunday's round of 128.

Rafael Tosetto was unable to claim a victory in his round of 256 battle with Gonzaga's Sasha Trkulja, pushing the Jacarei, Brazil native into the prequalifying consolation bracket where he will see Oklahoma State's Nicolas Pesoli in Sunday's round of 128.
