COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – With one week remaining in the regular season, the Tennessee Tech tennis team will tie a ribbon on its home slate, as the Golden Eagles will welcome Austin Peay to Tech Tennis Courts Tuesday afternoon in the club's last Cookeville clash of the year. The Golden Eagles (5-11, 2-0 OVC) head into the home finale on the heels of a hot stretch that has seen the purple and gold go 4-2 over the last six affairs, with the squad's only losses throughout the surge coming at the hands of Alabama and nationally-ranked Georgia State. Tech checked the win column in its last action on the courts behind a 6-1 win at UAB on Apr. 15.

Mika Berghaus, Carlos Vicente, Rafael Tosetto, Andre Rodeia and Jun Sasagawa all collected singles victories in the nod over the Blazers, while the TTU tandems of Berghaus and Elias Grubert as well as Rodeia and Evzen Holis secured doubles wins.

Berghaus is the Golden Eagle leader with six solo triumphs and the 6-foot-1 sophomore out of Cologne, Germany joins Grubert for Tech's most tandem victories with five each.

The Golden Eagles are halfway home to a perfect OVC slate after topping Eastern Illinois 6-1 on Apr. 2 and Tennessee State 6-1 on Apr. 9 in Nashville. Tuesday's matchup with the Govs will serve as Tech's second-to-last league meeting of the regular season. The Golden Eagles will be at Belmont on Saturday, Apr. 23.

A look at Austin Peay

The Govs (5-7, 1-1 OVC) come to Cookeville for a second-straight in-state battle after falling 6-1 at Chattanooga on Apr. 12 in the club's last contest. Tom Bolton was responsible for the lone Governor point thanks to a straight-set singles victory in the No. 4 spot.

Frederic Schlossmann and Anton Damberg lead the squad with five singles apiece. Damberg has played primarily in the No. 3 position where he has gone 4-4 out of that slot, while Schlossmann has appeared exclusively in the No. 1 position and has put together a 5-5 mark in that spot. The pair of Govs have also teamed up to form APSU's most formidable doubles duo with a 6-2 record this spring, playing all eight matchups in the No. 1 position.

Austin Peay split its two OVC matches this season with a 6-1 loss at Belmont on Apr. 2 and a 6-1 victory over Eastern Illinois in Clarksville on Apr. 9.

Inside the series

Tech's final regular-season meeting with Austin Peay as members of the same conference will be the 73rd in the all-time series. The Golden Eagles lead the set 47-25 and have won six straight and 10 of the last 11, including last year's OVC Tournament battle behind a 4-1 TTU nod in the semifinals in Evansville, Ind.
