COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – On the court, their success has been well documented. Eight OVC regular-season titles in the last 10 full seasons to go along with four conference tournament crowns in the last five campaigns. But off the court, the accolades have proven to be just as impressive with the latest announcement by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

The Tennessee Tech tennis team once again crushed it in the classroom, as the Golden Eagles were awarded as an ITA All-Academic Team for the club's scholastic achievement over the past academic year. Furthermore, the TTU tennis student-athletes made it a perfect seven-for-seven with each and every Golden Eagle taking home ITA Scholar-Athlete recognition. Mika Berghaus, Elias Grubert, Evzen Holis, Andre Rodeia, Jun Sasagawa, Rafael Tosetto and Carlos Vicente all took home the distinguished honor.

To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale), have all student-athletes included be listed on the institutional eligibility form and have all varsity letter winners factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year. The Golden Eagles wrapped up the 2020-21 academic year with a 3.76 cumulative GPA, posting a 3.79 GPA during the fall semester and a 3.73 in the in the spring.

To be recognized as an ITA Scholar-Athlete, one must have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year and be listed on the institutional eligibility form.

Tech tennis was most recently honored as the Small Academic Team of the Year for TTU athletics as part of the 2021 Golden Wings Awards. It marked the fourth time in six years since its inception in which Kenny Doyle's squad has claimed the accolade.
