Former Golden Eagle Kevin Murphy recalled to Utah Jazz

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Following a successful month and a half spent in the National Basketball Association's Developmental League, former Golden Eagle great Kevin Murphy will get another stint at the top level after receiving a call up from the Utah Jazz.

The Jazz, who drafted Murphy in the second round in the 2012 NBA Draft earlier in the year, are said to be impressed with the former Tech star's growth and maturation during his assignment with the Reno Bighorns. Over the past three games, Murphy averaged 17.6 points, inlcuding a game-high 24 against former Golden Eagle teammate Liam McMorrow and the Iowa Energy on Jan. 5.

Murphy was expected to rejoin the team in time for the Jazz's contest against the Charlotte Bobcats on Wednesday evening. An Atlanta, Ga. native, he will get a chance to play in his hometown on Friday when the Jazz play the Hawks in Atlanta. Murphy's wife and three-month-old son currently reside in Atlanta.
