Former Golden Eagle Liam McMorrow drafted by Iowa Energy of NBA D-League


COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Former Tennessee Tech men's basketball player Liam McMorrow took one step closer towards his ultimate goal of playing in the National Basketball Association Friday evening, joining the Iowa Energy of the NBA Development League.

McMorrow was picked in the fourth round of the NBA D-League by the Energy and was extended an invitation to training camp. He was the 57th overall selection in a draft that included former Purdue University star JaJuan Johnson and two-time NCAA Championship game participant Shelvin Mack of Butler University.

The former Golden Eagle, came to Tech after transferring from Marquette in 2010. In two seasons, McMorrow played in 62 games, totaling nine starts and averaging just over 12 minutes per game. He averaged 3.6 points a contest while pulling down 192 boards and blocking 21 shots.

The seven-footer from Ontario, Canada will attempt to make the final roster for the Energy which begins its home schedule December 1, 2012.
