Tennessee Tech Baseball Weekend Preview (May 20-21)

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech baseball team wraps up the 2021 campaign this weekend with an Ohio Valley Conference series against SIUE at Quillen Field and Bush Stadium at the Averitt Express Baseball Complex.

The Golden Eagles will host the Cougars in a 6:00 p.m. CT contest Thursday evening, with 11 senior members of the Tech program set to be honored prior to the tilt as part of Senior Weekend. The series will conclude on Friday, with doubleheader action slated for 1:00 p.m. and approximately 4:30 p.m. All three games on the weekend will be streamed on ESPN+ with Dylan Vazzano on the call.

The purple and gold enter the final weekend of play after falling in a midweek contest at Kentucky Tuesday evening, 8-4. Tied at 4-4 early, the Wildcats pulled away down the stretch. The Cougars dropped their own midweek tilt on Monday, falling 5-4 against Eastern Illinois in a game with no OVC implications.

Last weekend, both teams turned in 1-2 records in their respective OVC series. The Golden Eagles lost to the UT Martin in the first two contests between the in-state rivals, rallying for a 15-9 victory in the finale. SIUE collected a game two win against Murray State, winning 6-2 with a pair of losses bookending the weekend.

Set to be honored prior to Thursday's contest as part of Senior Night are left-handed pitcher Nic Dye, left-handed pitcher Alex Hursey, infielder Gavin Johns, right-handed pitcher Mark Leonard, outfielder Cody Littlejohn, infielder Nathan McMeans, right-handed pitcher Jacob Parham, right-handed pitcher Grant Phillips, former right-handed hurler and current student assistant coach Devin Lancaster, manager Dylan Reynolds and manager Peyton Smith.
