Tennessee Tech Baseball Weekend Preview (May 14-15)
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech baseball team heads west for its final Ohio Valley Conference road series of the 2021 campaign, squaring off with in-state rival UT Martin in a three-game set starting Friday, May 14.
First pitch is slated for 5:00 p.m. CT for game one of the weekend at Skyhawk Baseball Field. The series will wrap up on Saturday with doubleheader action set to begin at 1:00 p.m. Game three of the series is scheduled to start at approximately 4:30 p.m. All three games on the weekend will be streamed on ESPN+.
Both teams were slated for to take on top-five, nationally-ranked opponents on Tuesday, but the Skyhawks saw their tilt at No. 3 Mississippi State cancelled due to inclement weather. The Golden Eagles faced off against No. 4 Tennessee in Knoxville for the second time this season. Tech's late rally fell just short in a 10-8 loss.
The purple and gold collected a trio of wins last weekend, sweeping Morehead State for the first time since 2013. Tech won each contest by a single run, highlighted by the team's walk-off victory in the series finale.
UT Martin visited Murray State last weekend, falling in all three contests, despite a pair of close battles. The Skyhawks dropped a heartbreaker in 11 innings in the series opener and saw the Racers break a 4-4 tie with a pair of runs in the eighth inning of the final game of the week.
