Tennessee Tech Baseball Weekend Preview (Mar. 13-14)
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech baseball team is set to kick off Ohio Valley Conference play Saturday afternoon, squaring off with in-state rival Austin Peay in Clarksville in doubleheader action at Raymond C. Hand Park.
First pitch of the series is slated for a 3:00 p.m. CT start with game two on the day scheduled to begin at approximately 6:30 p.m. The series finale is set for a 2:00 p.m. start Sunday afternoon. All three games are currently slated to be broadcast on ESPN+.
Both the Golden Eagles and Governors saw their most recent contests affected by COVID-19 protocols. Tech's weekend series at No. 2 Mississippi State was cancelled last weekend while Austin Peay's Tuesday contest at Middle Tennessee was postponed.
The Golden Eagles head into OVC play with senior Gavin Johns leading the way offensively with a .412 batting average and seven total hits in six games. He also owns a team-best .524 on-base percentage. Returning freshman Brett Roberts leads the purple and gold with four doubles and three stolen bases on the year, all while hitting .300. Senior Cody Littlejohn boasts a team-high four RBI, backed by a triple, a home run and seven total hits in seven games.
On the hill, Connor Adams has paced Tech with 13 strikeouts in eight and one-third innings. Ty Fisher leads qualified pitchers with a 3.00 ERA and a 1-1 record. He also has tossed a team-high nine frames on the mound. Jacob Parham made his first appearance of the year out of the bullpen in Tech's last game, a midweek win over North Alabama, tossing three innings of scoreless ball.
