BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – For the second time this season, Tennessee Tech shortstop Ed Johnson was recognized as the Ohio Valley Conference's Player of the Week, sharing the honor with Murray State's Ryan Perkins as announced by the league on Monday.

The Trussville, Ala. native helped propel the Golden Eagles to their first three-game sweep of league rival Morehead State since 2013, batting .385 with a team-high four runs scored and four RBI. He added a double and a pair of home runs to the mix, slugging .923 and turning in a perfect fielding percentage.

He hit a solo jack in a 3-2 win over the Eagles in the opener, with the blast tying the game in the sixth inning. His two-run long ball in the second game put the Golden Eagles on top for good in the fifth inning in a 4-3 victory. In the finale, Johnson scored twice, including scoring the game-winning run after he started the ninth inning with a bunt single in an 8-7 victory.

The Auburn transfer also claimed OVC Player of the Week honors back on Mar. 22 after hitting .500 with eight runs, 11 RBI and three round-trippers in four games. Johnson is one of just two players in the OVC to earn multiple Player of the Week nods this season, joining SIUE's Brady Bunten.

Johnson ranks second on the Tech squad with a .313 batting average. He leads the team with 34 runs scored and has added 26 RBI and a team-high nine hit-by-pitches this season.
