Tennessee Tech Baseball Weekend Preview (Apr. 24-25)

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Due to expected inclement weather in the Cookeville area, including possible heavy rain and thunderstorms, this weekend's Ohio Valley Conference baseball series between Tennessee Tech and Belmont has been moved back a day and will now commence on Saturday, Apr. 24.

Originally slated to kick off on Friday, the two in-state rivals will now square off with a single contest at Quillen Field and Bush Stadium at the Averitt Express Baseball Complex on Saturday, beginning at 1:00 p.m. CT. A doubleheader is scheduled for Sunday, Apr. 25, with first pitch currently locked in at 12:00 p.m. The second contest will follow approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first game.

All three games are still slated to appear on ESPN+, with Dylan Vazzano on the call. Fans are encouraged to check social media and the TTUSports.com website for updates concerning this weekend's schedule, should any more changes occur.

Tech and Belmont already went to battle once this season, competing in midweek action with no OVC implications involved in the contest on March 23. The Golden Eagle offense carried the home team to an 11-4 victory, securing 10 total hits on the day.

A trio of big boppers, sluggers Jason Hinchman, Golston Gillespie and John Dyer each accounted for three RBI in the contest and each tallied at least one round-tripper. Gillespie circled the wagons twice, contributing a pair of long balls on the night, including going back-to-back with Hinchman in the seventh frame.

This week, the Golden Eagles dropped a heartbreaker at No. 5 Tennessee, falling 3-2 on a walk-off single in the ninth Tuesday evening. The Bruins earned a Wednesday win at arch-rival Lipscomb, defeating the Bisons 11-2.
