Tennessee Tech Baseball Midweek Preview (Mar. 2)
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech baseball team is set to finally host its home-opener Tuesday afternoon, welcoming North Alabama to Quillen Field and Bush Stadium at the Averitt Express Baseball Complex in a 4:00 p.m. CT tilt.
First pitch was moved back an hour from the original start of 3:00 p.m. Tech has seen each of its first two weekends of play moved to the road due to inclement weather in the Cookeville area, playing in a round-robin tournament at Jacksonville State to start the year.
Last weekend, the Golden Eagles flipped its originally scheduled home series against Kent State to a road series, heading north to Kent, Ohio to take on the Golden Flashes. Kent State claimed each of the three games, winning 6-1, 17-5 and 8-1.
North Alabama has yet to play a home game in 2021, seeing its opening weekend cancelled due to inclement weather. The Lions opened the season at Belmont in midweek action, falling 5-1. UNA then took a trip to Florida, playing four games at Stetson.
The Hatters swept the Lions, claiming victories of 8-3, 16-5, 6-0 and 7-2.
Fans will be allowed at Quillen Field during the season, but will be required to socially distance in the stands and wear face coverings. Capacity will be limited to one-third of the stadium's original capacity of 1,100 due to COVID-19 protocols. All Tennessee Tech baseball games are free to the public.
