Golden Eagles take on Texas Tech in the final game of the Red Raider Classic

LUBBOCK, Texas --- The Tennessee Tech baseball team wrapped up the Red Raider Classic Sunday, as it took on Texas Tech.

The Golden Eagles managed six hits, but were unable to keep the Red Raiders off the board as Texas Tech took the win 8-0.

Freshman Jordan Hopkins recorded two of the Golden Eagles six hits, while junior Austin Wulf recorded another hit, extending his hitting streak to four games on the season.

Scott LeJeune led the Red Raider offense as he tallied three hits and three RBI, while Tim Proudfoot and Bo Altobelli added two hits and two RBI each.

Texas Tech's Rusty Shellhorn earned the win as he threw seven innings, while giving up just four hits. Sophomore Jake McWhirter took the loss as he threw 3.2 innings, recording one strikeout.

Senior Cullen Park came on in relief of McWhirter in the fourth inning and threw 3.1 innings of shutout baseball as he struck out a pair while allowing just one hit.

The Golden Eagles continue their road trip as they take on in-state rival East Tennessee Wednesday at 2:05 p.m.
