Boys of Summer: Liberatore returns to Tennessee to take on Lookouts

Liberatore’s team is will take on Chattanooga though Thursday

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. --- Adam Liberatore, a former Tennessee Tech baseball player, made his return to Tennessee Sunday as he got the save against the Chattanooga Lookouts as he continues his journey to the show.

Liberatore, who is in his third season in the minor leagues, has stepped into the closer’s role for the Montgomery Biscuits and could be called upon in the Biscuits final four games against Chattanooga through Thursday.

Elsewhere, Chad Oberacker joined his former TTU teammate, A.J. Kirby-Jones, with the Stockton (Cailf.) Ports after getting a promotion from the Burlington (Iowa) Bees.

Tech currently boasts five players in the minor leagues, with two playing at the Double-A level and three playing Single-A ball.

 

Adam Liberatore – Montgomery Biscuits (Double-A, Tampa Bay Rays)

Liberatore has been lights out in his last three outings, as he has posted three saves in his last three appearances. Against the Tennessee Smokies, Liberatore tallied two saves and threw 3.2 innings. Recently against the Lookouts, he posted he third straight save as he threw one hitless inning. On the season, he has recorded a 2-2 record with three saves and a 3.12 ERA.

Chad Oberacker – Stockton Ports (Single-A, Oakland A’s)

Behind his solid start this season, Oberacker earned a promotion to the Stockton Ports, where he joins former TTU teammate A.J. Kirby-Jones. Before getting the call-up, he was batting .317 for the Burlington Bees with two home runs and seven RBIs. In three games with the Ports, he has posted one hit, one walk and one stolen base.

A.J. Kirby Jones – Stockton Ports (Single-A, Oakland A’s)

In his last nine games, Kirby-Jones has posted four hits, including a double, to go along with three RBIs. He has also coaxed four walks and scored two runs. He is presently batting .290 with four home runs and 17 RBIs. His four home runs and 17 RBIs rank second on the team, while his 16 walks pace the Ports.

Stephen Pryor – Jackson Generals (Double-A, Seattle Mariners)

In his last four appearances, Pryor has kept the opposing teams scoreless, as he has posted a pair of saves and 10 strikeouts.  He currently leads the Jackson Generals with seven saves this season and has struck out 24 batters. His 1.13 ERA ranks near the top of the team, as he has given up just two earned runs in 16 innings pitched this season.

Ryan Dennick – Willington Blue Rocks (Single-A, Kansas City Royals)

Dennick has thrown a total of seven innings in his last two outings while posting six strikeouts. In six games this season, Dennick has put together a 2-1 record for the Wilmington (Del.) Blue Rocks, with 17 strikeouts, while making one start.
