Boys of Summer: Pryor continues to thrive in Triple-A

COOKEVILLE. Tenn. --- Former Tennessee Tech pitcher Stephen Pryor has continued his success since earning his promotion to the Triple-A Tacoma Rainiers two weeks ago.

Pryor is one of five former Golden Eagles who are currently playing in the minor leagues, with two others in Double-A and two in Advanced Single-A. All five of the players played for Tennessee Tech as recently as 2009.

 

Stephen Pryor – Tacoma Rainiers (Triple-A, Seattle Mariners)

Two weeks into his stint with the Rainiers and Pryor has not missed a step, as he has still not given up a run in eight trips to the mound. He has thrown seven shutout innings in his last five appearances and has recorded two saves and seven strikeouts. Pryor has now thrown a total of 11 shutout innings for the Rainiers and has fanned 14 batters, while giving up just five hits.

Adam Liberatore – Montgomery Biscuits (Double-A, Tampa Bay Rays)

Liberatore has made five appearances for the Biscuits over the last two weeks. He has thrown seven innings and has struck out six batters, while posting a 1-1 record during that span. On the season, he owns a 3-3 record and a 3.08 ERA in 17 appearances.

Ryan Dennick – Northwest Arkansas Naturals (Double-A, Kansas City Royals)

Dennick has made four appearances in Double-A since his promotion two weeks ago. In his last three outings, he given up just one run in a total of 10 innings pitched. He has also posted eight strikeouts and a 1-0 record.

A.J. Kirby-Jones – Stockton Ports (Single-A, Oakland A's)

In his last 10 games, Kirby-Jones has put together a .297 batting average with 11 hits and two home runs. He has driven in six runs and coaxed seven walks as well. On the season he is batting .284 and cuurently leads the team with 10 home runs.

Chad Oberacker – Stockton Ports (Single-A, Oakland A's)

Oberacker has posted 11 hits and a home run in his last 10 games for the Ports. He has also driven in eight runs and stolen three bases. In three of his last six games he has posted at least two hits in a game, including a three-hit performance against the San Jose Giants, where he drove in four runs.
