Golden Eagles host weekend series against Morehead State

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. --- With three Ohio Valley Conference series left in the season, the Tennessee Tech baseball team will look to climb up the standings as it hosts a three-game series against the Morehead State Eagles.

Game one of the series is set for Friday at 6 p.m., with game two scheduled for Saturday at 2 p.m. and game three set for Sunday at 1 p.m.

Tech (17-23, 7-11 OVC) currently sits in eighth place in the regular season standings, and seventh in the postseason standings due to SIU Edwardsville being ineligible for postseason play this season. TTU is currently tied with Murray State and Southeast Missouri with identical 7-11 OVC records for the final spot in the OVC Tournament.

The Golden Eagles lead their all-time series against MSU with a 64-38 record. Last season, TTU finished 1-2 against the Eagles, with Morehead State winning the final two meetings.

Seven Golden Eagles have driven in at least 20 RBIs on the season including Chad Hayes and Dylan Bosheers who have driven in 32 and 30, respectively. Zach Stephens still ranks near the top of the NCAA in several categories as he leads the Golden Eagles with a .422 batting average, 16 home runs and 46 RBIs.

Morehead State (24-19, 9-9 OVC) is currently on a four-game losing streak having lost its last game to Eastern Illinois, and most recently, getting swept by Eastern Kentucky. With its 9-9 league record, MSU sits in fifth place in the OVC standings.

The Eagles have had four players score 35 runs this season, including Andrew Deeds, who leads the team with a .410 batting average. Luke Bainer and Eric Bainer lead the Eagles with 32 RBIs.
