COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech softball coach Tory Acheson, along with current and former Golden Eagles, will host the annual Championship Softball Mini Camp, June 12-14.
For serious softball players ages 7-17, this Mini Camp is
designed to give campers a concentrated dose of softball
instruction, including a college prep seminar to learn about the
recruiting process, plus pitching and catching clinics. The pace
will be quick and all aspects of the game will be covered.
This year's camp will also feature the newest addition to
Tech's coaching staff, Bonnie Bynum. The most dominate pitcher in
Ohio Valley Conference history, Bynum has returned to her alma
mater as Acheson's pitching coach.
The Mini Camp will feature Tech head coach Tory Acheson along
with current and former team members. A nationally known speaker
and clinician with appearances at the NCAA Yes Clinic, National
Sport Clinics, Nike Camps, Championship Softball Camps, and many
state and local events, Acheson has been the director of
Championship Softball Camps at Tech for the past nine years.
The Mini Camp is a part of the instructional program designed
to allow players of all skill levels to gain valuable knowledge and
experience. Instruction will feature individual and small group
work to develop skills for athletes of all ages. Athletes will be
grouped according to age and ability level throughout the course of
the Mini Camp.
General instruction will be given in all fundamental areas
including hitting, bunting, base running, and defense. Special
emphasis will be given to individual position instruction.
The cost of the camp is $80. Participants should bring a
glove, cleats, tennis shoes, kneepads, a bat (optional), water
bottle, lunch and enthusiasm. Family and team discounts are
available, and each camper will receive a T-shirt.
June 12 will feature a pitcher and catcher clinic where
campers will have the opportunity to meet with current and former
players. The pitching clinic will cover mechanics, pitches and the
mental aspects of the game, while the catching clinic will feature
throwing, blocking, pitch calling and how to work with the pitcher.
The cost for each is $50.
