Golden Eagles look to continue improving in OVC Standings

Live Stats

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Tech softball team has won five of its last seven Ohio Valley Conference matchups and could improve its ranking to as high as second this week. The Golden Eagles travel to Richmond, Ky. Wednesday for two games against the Colonels.

Tech (14-19, 8-7 OVC) currently sits in fifth in the OVC, but faces two other top five teams this week in EKU (7-5 OVC) and Murray State (7-5 OVC).

The Colonels, 15-18 overall, enter the matchup having won three of its last five games, including games over Austin Peay and Morehead State. EKU junior Raquel Howes was named OVC co-player of the week for her efforts, batting .550 with two home runs and six RBIs in that span.

The Golden Eagles are coming off of back-to-back wins over Southeast Missouri last weekend and a win over second-ranked Jacksonville State on Thursday. Senior Holly Thomas earned her tenth win of the season and freshman Taylor Ketchum struck out ten SEMO batters en route to her first career win.

Wednesday's games will be available to view on OVCSports.tv free of charge. Click here to watch the live stream.
