Tech hosts Eastern Kentucky in a battle for OVC positioning

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- After lightning forced the cancellation of a doubleheader in Richmond last week, the Tennessee Tech softball team will play two against Eastern Kentucky at home on Thursday.

The first game at EKU was called just two outs into the first inning as Tech had runners at the corners. Instead of playing a single game in Cookeville, the teams will play a doubleheader at the Tech Softball Field starting at 2 p.m.

Eastern Kentucky enters the matchup coming off of a 7-2 win over conference-leading UT Martin. The Colonels are an even 5-5 on the road this season and have won three of their last eight away from Richmond.

The Golden Eagles have won three of their last five at home with wins over Murray State and Southeast Missouri. Tech is currently in sixth place in the Ohio Valley Conference standings with a 9-9 record, but would overtake Eastern Kentucky (8-7) for fifth place with a pair of wins.

Tech will then hit the road again to face Eastern Illinois in a three-game series starting Saturday.
