TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The home standing Florida State Seminoles remained unbeaten (4-0) and advanced to the championship game of their own Seminole Classic by defeating the Tennessee Tech softball team twice on Saturday, 5-2 and 8-0 in six innings.

The Golden Eagles (0-4) will close tourney play on Sunday morning with an 8 a.m. CT contest against Stephen F. Austin. The Lady Jacks downed Tech, 4-3, on Friday.

Runs were at a premium for the Golden Eagles against a combination of four FSU pitchers who allowed just four hits over 13 innings.

The Golden Eagles took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first frame of Saturday's first game. For the third consecutive game, leadoff batter Cassie Garrett drew a walk, and came around to score on a fielder's choice off the bat of Whitney Cummings.

TTU Starter Holly Thomas rolled through the FSU lineup in the first two innings and had two outs in the third when the Seminoles struck for a couple runs on a two-run triple by Maddie O'Brien.  The Seminoles made it 4-1 in the fourth as Monica Perry drove a two-run home run to center field following an infield error.

The Golden Eagles, meanwhile, managed just one hit off Perry through five innings before notching another run in the sixth to trim the difference to 4-2. Chanelle Spalding drew a leadoff walk and moved to second on a single by Cummings. Following a line drive out, Tech took advantage of back-to-back wild pitches as Spalding raced home.

FSU added the game's final run in the bottom of the sixth, an unearned run that came from a single, fielder's choice and fielding error.

Kayla Floyd reached on a bunt single to open the Tech seventh but freshman Bailey Schinella slammed the door for her first save of the year.

Thomas (0-3) took the loss, working five innings and allowing four runs, three earned, on just three hits. She walked three and struck out two. Perry (1-0) was the winner, going five innings and yielding just one run on one hit, walking three and striking out three. Bailey pitched the final two innings and gave up on run n two hits.

In the second game, two FSU pitchers combined for a one-hitter in the 8-0, six-inning contest. Cummings was the lone Golden Eagle to reach on a hit while Emily Burch drew a walk. Along with two errors and a fielder's choice, the Golden Eagles had a total of five base runners.

Starter Lacey Waldrop pitched the first five innings and didn't allow a ht. She walked one and struck out three. Jessica Nori worked the sixth and gave up Cummings' hit to break up the no-hitter. She didn't walk a batter and struck out two.

Coach Tory Acheson used three pitchers in the contest. Starter Taylor Ketchum (0-1) went two innings, allowing three hits and two runs. She walked two and struck out one. Erica Tuck was in the circle for 1.2 innings, allowing four runs on four hits, with four walks and one strikeout. Claudia Harke tossed the final two innings, allowing two runs on four hits. She didn't walk a batter and fanned two.

The Seminoles had three doubles and one triple among their 11 hits on the way to scoring eight runs. FSU scored two in the first and four in the fourth for a 6-0 lead. They added one in the fifth and ended the game with a final run in the sixth.
