Getting to know: Jennifer Sullivan

Getting to know: Jennifer Sullivan

Every student-athlete has a story, details about themselves and their background that extend beyond just the playing field and athletics.

Throughout the summer, we will take a look at the members of the Tennessee Tech women's basketball team and get to know more about them, the student-athletes who are representing not just their home communities, but also the University, Cookeville and the Upper Cumberland as they don the purple and gold. We asked the team to provide 10 facts about themselves that they want you, the fans, to know about them.

Today's subject is incoming freshman Jennifer Sullivan. Winning both the TSSAA Class AAAA state championship and Miss Basketball honors at Bearden High School, Sullivan comes to Cookeville as a highly decorated player at both Bearden and The King's Academy.

Here's 10 things Sullivan wants you to know about her:

  1. One of my favorite things to do during the summer is go to the lake. I love to wakeboard and be out on the water with my friends.
  2. I have three older siblings – Casey, Cameron and Shelby. My sister has a baby boy named Jaxson and he's the sweetest kid ever!
  3. My favorite place to eat in Cookeville is Cane's. I get the three-finger combo with extra Cane's Sauce .
  4. I have been to five schools throughout K-12.
  5. My family loves to go camping and ride ATVs. My dad rebuilds Suzuki Samurais and we take them out riding.
  6. I'm from Knoxville, and my favorite place where I live is the Sunsphere. Whenever I drive back from school and see it, I know I'm home.
  7. My mom is one of my biggest inspirations. It seems like she's naturally good at everything she does, whether it's hanging sheetrock, painting, catering, throwing parties, cooking, decorating …you name it.
  8. Stranger Things is my favorite TV show. The next season is the last one and I will definitely be crying when it's over.
  9. I love shoes. I have way too many pairs of Jordans and my mom says I'm 'cut off.' I say you can never have too many pairs.
  10. My dad used to race dirt track and my sister and I would make big poster boards to cheer him on.
