Tennessee Tech Baseball Weekend Preview (Apr. 5)
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech baseball team finally returns to Cookeville for the first time in more than two weeks, kicking off a three-game Ohio Valley Conference series with first-time opponent Lindenwood Thursday evening.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. CT on Thursday for the series opener, with a 6:00 p.m. Friday tilt to follow and a 2:00 p.m. match-up on Saturday slated to wrap things up. All three games are slated to be streamed live on ESPN+ with Dylan Vazzano on the call.
The Golden Eagles enter the match-up in the middle of a tough stretch, falling in nine of their last 10 contests, including a 9-4 defeat at the hands of former OVC rival Belmont on Tuesday evening.
Tech picked up its first OVC win of the year last Saturday, outlasting Morehead State on the road in 10 innings, 17-12. The Eagles bested the purple and gold in the final two contests of the series, 10-7 and 4-3.
Lindenwood comes into the weekend following a tough, 14-2 loss at Southern Illinois Tuesday night. Prior to the midweek defeat, the Lions enjoyed a successful weekend at home, securing their first-ever OVC series win with a 2-1 performance against Southern Indiana.
The Lions earned back-to-back 6-3 victories in the first two games of the series for their first wins in the league. USI bounced back to salvage a game in the series, besting Lindenwood 12-9. In the loss, the Lions scored five runs in the eighth to tie the game at 9-9, but the Screaming Eagles answered with a three-run ninth to pick up the victory.
