Tennessee Tech Baseball Weekend Preview (Mar. 23)
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech baseball team kicks off a seven-game road swing with a three-game weekend series at Davidson starting Friday at 4:30 p.m. CT at Wilson Field in Davidson, N.C.
Game two of the series is slated for a 1:00 p.m. first pitch while the finale will feature a 12:00 p.m. start. Friday's and Sunday's games are slated to be streamed live on ESPN+.
The Golden Eagles come into the weekend after falling in midweek action to in-state rival Middle Tennessee Tuesday evening. The Blue Raiders bested the purple and gold 13-5, using big second and seventh innings and a whopping 18 hits to do its damage.
It marked the third straight loss for the Tech squad, which won its first contest in last weekend's series with in-state foe ETSU, 4-3. The Buccaneers bounced back with a 13-4 win on Saturday and a 12-0 victory in seven innings on Sunday.
Davidson boasts some momentum heading into the weekend, winning three of its past four contests, including a midweek affair at Presbyterian on Tuesday. The Wildcats took down PC 7-4, scoring five runs over the final three frames.
Last weekend, Davidson bested Marist in two of its three contests, all played to just seven innings. The two squads split a doubleheader on Saturday, with the Wildcats snagging a 5-1 win in the opener before falling 14-8 in the second game of the day. Davidson collected a 12-2 win in the finale on Sunday, also a seven-inning affair due to a pre-arranged run rule.
