Tennessee Tech Baseball Weekend Preview (Mar. 30)

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech baseball team officially kicks off Ohio Valley Conference action this weekend, making the trip to Morehead, Ky. for a three-game series with longtime rival Morehead State.

Due to inclement weather in the Morehead area, this weekend's schedule has been altered, with Friday's contest being moved back one day. The two squads will now play a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 2:00 p.m. CT. Game two is set to follow at approximately 5:00 p.m. Game three is still slated for a 12:00 p.m. first pitch Sunday.

The Golden Eagles enter league play following a heart-wrenching weekend on the road at Davidson. After falling 9-5 in the opener, Tech watched as the Wildcats delivered back-to-back walk-off victories in Saturday and Sunday's contests.

The purple and gold held a 10-6 advantage going into the bottom of the ninth on Saturday, but Davidson answered with six runs in the frame, highlighted by a walk-off grand slam for a 12-10 win. The Wildcats followed it up by breaking a 5-5 tie in the bottom of the ninth on Sunday, using a walk-off base knock to win 6-5.

Tech heads into its series in the midst of a seven-game road swing, with a road tilt at Belmont next Tuesday representing the final contest in the stretch. The Golden Eagles have currently dropped six straight contests.

Morehead State saw its four-game winning streak snapped on Tuesday, falling at Eastern Kentucky 10-6. Prior to the loss, the Eagles were perfect 4-0 last week, kicking things off with a marathon, 19-14 win over Ohio.

Making a visit to Evansville, Morehead opened OVC play last weekend with a 3-0 sweep of new league foe Southern Indiana. The Eagles edged the Screaming Eagles 3-2 in the opener on Saturday, then followed it up with wins of 11-4 and 5-1 in a doubleheader on Sunday.
